When purchasing investment metals such as gold, silver, or platinum we offer you the option to verify their authenticity using a professional, non-destructive method: a specialized device known as a spectrometer.

At VIPgold, we utilize a top-tier, professional-grade spectrometer—the Sigma Metalytics Precious Metal Verifier PRO. This device analyzes the composition of a precious metal (measuring electrical resistance and specific density), even through the protective plastic blister packaging of an investment bar. It serves as the flagship product of the American manufacturer Sigma Metalytics. The device can scan items through plastic capsules, certified slabs (such as those from NGC or PCGS, for weights of 1/4 oz and above), and other plastic casings, without the need to open them.

Compared to instruments based on X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy, our Sigma Metalytics Precious Metal Verifier PRO - even when using its smallest sensor - penetrates up to 10 times deeper.
In contrast, XRF (X-ray) technology only "sees" a few microns beneath the surface (approximately 10 to 15 microns). Therefore, if a fraudster coats a tungsten bar with a thicker layer of genuine gold (e.g., 0.2 mm), an XRF spectrometer will report 99.99% pure gold, as the rays cannot penetrate the gold-plated surface layer.

The Sigma Metalytics Precious Metal Verifier PRO, with its integrated "Thru Readings" sensors, scans the entire thickness of the metal. The signal travels from the top sensor, through the center of the bar, to the bottom sensor. A tungsten core hidden inside the gold has no chance of remaining undetected.
